About Us
Rooted in Handeni, carried by women.
Our mission
We exist to give rural women in Handeni District a livelihood that respects the land they live on. Beekeeping needs no fertiliser, no clearing, no imported feed — just healthy woodland and patient hands.
Every member owns her own hives. Profits are shared based on what each apiary produces, and 10% of every sale goes into a shared training fund that keeps bringing new women into the co-op.
The land
Handeni sits inland from the Tanga coast, in a belt of miombo woodland dotted with acacia, mnyenye and wild mango. When the rains come the bush blooms in waves — and so does the honey, each harvest with its own colour and character.
We work exclusively with wild forage. No sugar-feeding, no imported queens, no plastic frames.
